Teachers, mechanics and engineers have been warned they are the taxman's top three targets this year.
The tax office will pay close attention to their claims for using cars and travel expenses as well as deductions for home office, mobile phone and internet expenses.
That's a good heads up, people often are not aware exactly what they are entitled to claim back and what they're not - this can lead to people inadvertently claiming outside of their allowable personal deductions.
The ATO website has a guide to show by occupation what can be deducted and what can't. This would be a good resource to look at espesically if you are one of the targets this year.
