    The Queensland 8c petrol subsidy
The Queensland Fuel Subsidy Scheme allows the oprice of Fuel in QLD to be 8.354 cent per litre cheaper than it would otherwise be.

This subsidy came about after the other States removed a Fuel Tax that they had in place, that Queensland did not. Therefore as all the other States were reducing their Petrol prices, Queensland had to do something to reduce their prices also, or be the only State not reducing the price.

According to the QLD Government website..
The Fuel Subsidy Scheme was introduced after a High Court decision prevented the states and territories from collecting business franchise fees on fuel, tobacco and alcohol.
Because Queensland never had a fuel tax, the government reached an agreement with the Commonwealth and the fuel industry to provide a subsidy for:
retailers—to pass the benefit to consumers

    Queensland Solar Hot Water Program

The Office of Clean Energy attracts investment and facilitates development of clean energy projects in Queensland.

The Office is responsible for implementing an election commitment by Premier Anna Bligh to deliver up to 200,000 affordable solar hot water systems over the next 3 years, beginning July 1 2009.

Under the Queensland Solar Hot Water Program, fully installed solar hot water systems will be offered to eligible Queensland households at $100 for pensioners and concession cardholders, and $500 for others.

Information for consumers who are interested in finding out more about the program

The Office of Clean Energy is receiving a high volume of enquiries regarding the Queensland Solar Hot Water Program.

If you'd like to register your interest in receiving further information about this program, please call 1800-243-585 and ask for the Solar Hot Water Program.

Alternatively, you can complete an online form (PDF, 450kB) available on this page.

Registering your interest is not an application to participate in the program. At this stage the Queensland Government is collecting the details of those Queenslanders who are interested in receiving further information about the program.

The Queensland Government will contact you in writing by the end of May to update you on the program and the next steps you need to take to be involved in this initiative.
