There are about 380,000 cases of Skin Cancer reported in Australia each year, and from that there are about 1,700 deaths.
A ratio of about 4.4 deaths per 1,000 reported cases.

There were about 92,000 cases of Skin Cancer reported in the United Kingdom in 2006, and from that there were about 2,600 deaths.
A ratio of about 35 deaths per 1,000 reported cases.

Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, with over 380,000 people diagnosed every year, and over 1,600 deaths from skin cancer each year.

The number of deaths in Australia from skin cancer in 2005 was 1,678

  • 1,273 melanoma
  • 405 non-melanoma skin cancer

      Acral lentiginous melanoma: most commonly found on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet or under the nails. This type is more common in people with darker skin.

      In 1977 he injured his foot while playing soccer, and a doctor diagnosed a malignant melanoma in his injured toe, and recommended amputation of the toe.

      Bob Marley chose not to have the amputation on religious grounds, and died from it in 1981.
