                            17th September 2009

The Reserve Bank of Australia has released its 2009 Annual Report today.

A large portion of this profit came from its decision to pour billions of dollars into buying back the Australian dollar as its value dropped late last year.

This is an excerpt from a speech given by Glenn Stevens, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia today

We cannot claim that Australia has avoided any downturn at all.

It appears at this stage, however, that the downturn we are having may turn out not to be one of the more serious ones of the post-War era, in contrast to the experiences of so many other countries.

Sea World and Movie World food ban

                            27th July 2009

Both Sea World and Movie World have now banned visitors from taking their own food into the parks, something that has been commonly done for many years.

From July 2009 visitors may have their bags searched on entry, (this was seen on video from the park today 27th July 2009). Visitors who need to eat will have to buy their food at the food outlets in the parks. Prices appear to be about double the price at fast food outlets outside the parks. One price quoted was a burger and chips and drink for $14.95, compared to $7.00 at one of the normal chains.

Quote from the Seaworld website: Food & beverage, eskies and coolers may not be brought into the park. You may bring in fruit and bottled water. Seaworld Conditions
