              		 Some prices of Meat from the major Supermarkets, compared to some Butchers in Queensland.
              Prices per Kg

                               Coles        Woolworths       Butcher 
              Eye Fillet        $36.00      $37.99       $14.98 
              T- Bone           $22.00      $13.93      $ 10.99 
              Rump              $14.00      $14.49       $ 5.99 
              Scotch Fillet     $19.99      $20.99       $14.98 
              Topside Roast     $14.00      $ 9.49       $ 5.99 
              Blade Steak       $12.00      $13.99       $ 7.99 
              Mince             $ 8.00      $ 7.93       $ 5.99 
              Sausages          $ 4.60      $ 3.27       $ 3.99 

              Total            $130.59      $122.08      $70.90

              The butchers give their reasons as lower profit margins.

              As I often say, it pays to shop around....

              		 Price of Meat in the local paper at the local Butchers:
              Friday April 9th 2010

              $3.99 kg Fresh Double Smoked Leg hams
              $4.99 kg Tender Whole Budget Rumps

              Not all areas have similar butchers, but it is always worth looking around, especially in the local free papers.

              Compared now to the Supermarket specials:
              Woolworths:
              $14.99 kg Pork loan Cutlets
              $15.98 kg T Bone steak
              $8.99 kg Lamb Leg Roast
              $18.88 kg Leg Ham (Sliced)

              Note: Compare some of these prices to the 2009 prices in the post above.
