Bank Charges in Australia are something that many people often complain about.
Many Australian Banks have account keeping fees, commonly about $5 per month, although some are Free.
I have always liked HSBC with no monthly charges, a good rate of interest and I can make deposits and withdrawals, free of charge, at any Post Office.
I am also allowed to make FIVE withdrawals per month at any other banks ATM machines, without charge. The normal fee for this type of transaction, with almost every other bank, is $1.50 to $2 per transaction. HSBC allow this is they have very few ATM's of their own.
The Big Four/Five Banks are:
ANZ Bank Commonwealth Bank National Australia Bank (NAB) St George Bank Westpac Bank
and there are many other smaller banks around the country.
Some ONLINE BANKS (Normally higher interest rates but with less facilities)
