Beef Consumption in UK and Australia

A surprising couple of figures I found today show that Australians eat 7 times as much beef person than the British.

Australians eat an average 35.7 kg of beef per person, per year
Total consumption of beef in Australia is projected to rise in 2010 to 760,000 tonnes

and

Almost half of the 300,000 tonnes of beef consumed in the UK per year is sold as minced beef

Based on that UK figure, the average Beef consumption in the UK is about 5 kg per person, per year, of which half is mince.

It did make me wonder how many more vegetarians there are in the UK.
