Many people would exclude the last six areas from those areas in Greater Brisbane when referring to Brisbane. This would mean that only about 52.3% of the Greater Brisbane population actually live in Brisbane.

The average age of Brisbane’s population is thirty-three years and 21% of the total population is under the age of fifteen.

Less than one hour’s drive to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches and easy access to lush forests and National Parks.

I don’t know why these official figures only add up to 96% of the total though ?

Brisbane Airport to Sunshine Coast Hotels, Shuttle Bus Service

Sun-air Bus Service operate hourly bus shuttle transfers between Brisbane Airport and the Sunshine Coast.

The service runs between 5am and 9pm and delivers passengers between Brisbane Airport and Hotels or private addresses on the Sunshine Coast.

The standard one way fare in 2009 is $48 per person

Brisbane Airport to Brisbane City Transport Services

Brisbanes Air Train service offers the quickest way to get to the City from the Airport. 20 minutes from the Airport to the heart of Brisbane, with trains departing every 15 minutes during peak times.

2009 Fares are quoted at $14.00 for a one way adult ticket.

There have been marked improvements in the Brisbane public Bus transport system since 2004, most noteably in the air conditioning aspect

Examples:

Numbers of Buses with Air Conditioning has increased from 37% to 86%

Average age of Buses was 10.7 years, but is now 8.15 years

In 2004 there were 48 million bus passengers, and this has now increased to 71 million

There has been an increase in the number of buses from 736 to 1002

The Flood Flag Map shows the possibility of flooding from creeks, rivers, storm tide and overland flow.

BRISBANE REGION OVERVIEW

Brisbane City Local Government Area (LGA) has a total area of 1,340.3 km2, or 8.5 per cent of the total area of Greater Brisbane Greater Capital City Statistical Area (GCCSA).

Brisbane City LGA has an average daily temperature range of 14.9 oC to 24.9 oC and on average it receives 1,165 mm of rainfall each year.

Demography

  • As at 30 June 2012, the estimated resident population of the region was 1,110,473 persons, compared with 2,192,065 persons in Greater Brisbane Greater Capital City Statistical Area.
  • As at 30 June 2012, 17.5 per cent of persons in the region were aged 0 to 14 years, 70.9 per cent were aged 15 to 64 years and 11.6 per cent were aged 65 years and over.
  • As at 30 June 2012, the median age for the region was 34.6 years, a decrease of 0.2 year over the five year period from 30 June 2007 to 30 June 2012.
  • In 2011, the number of registered births to mothers with a usual residence in the region was 14,755. During the same period, the number of deaths registered of persons with a usual residence in the region was 6,017. As a result, the natural increase for the region was 8,738 persons.
  • At the time of the 2011 Census, the region had 14,630 persons who stated they were of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin, representing 1.4 per cent of the total population.
  • At the time of the 2011 Census, the region had 295,207 persons who stated they were born overseas (28.3 per cent of the total population) and 694,258 persons who stated they were Australian-born (66.6 per cent of the total population).
  • At the time of the 2011 Census, the region had 380,774 occupied private dwellings. Of these private dwellings, 269,880 were separate houses, 36,975 were semi-detached and 71,595 were apartments.
  • At the time of the 2011 Census, 27.7 per cent of the occupied private dwellings in the region were fully owned, 33.8 per cent were being purchased and 35.7 per cent were being rented.

Economy

The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years and over (based on a smoothed series) in the region in June quarter 2013 was 37,161. This represented an unemployment rate of 5.7 per cent.

ESTIMATED RESIDENT POPULATION

As at 30 June 2012, the estimated resident population of Brisbane City Local Government Area (LGA) was 1,110,473 persons, compared with 2,192,065 persons in Greater Brisbane Greater Capital City Statistical Area (GCCSA). The population of Brisbane City LGA increased by 20,594 persons between 30 June 2011 and 2012, which was a population growth rate of 1.9 per cent, compared with 2.1 per cent increase for Greater Brisbane GCCSA.
