New South Wales

There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for this occupation in New South Wales.

Hairdressing in New South Wales is not a licensed trade. In accordance with the NSW Hairdressers Act 2003, regardless of age, a person can work as a hairdresser in New South Wales if that person has gained the nationally recognised qualification – Certificate III in Hairdressing.  http://www.training.nsw.gov.au/aacs/advice_instructions/hairdressing_train.html

Victoria

There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for this occupation in Victoria.

Queensland

There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for this occupation in Queensland.

There is no longer any requirement to hold a licence to use premises as a hairdresser’s shop for shaving, cutting, trimming, dressing, waving, curling, staining or dyeing hair or performing scalp or facial massage, manicure or pedicures or otherwise dealing with the head, scalp, face or to operate a mobile Hairdressing service. http://www.hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au/web/guest/hairdressing-licences.

South Australia

There is no legal requirement for licensing or registration for this occupation in South Australia.

Western Australia

Tasmania
