Paid Parental Leave Eligibility

Paid Parental Leave Eligibility

You must be an Australian resident to be eligible for Parental Leave Pay, and you must have met the Paid Parental Leave work test before the birth or adoption occurs.

The Paid Parental Leave work test includes these:

  • You must have worked for at least 10 of the 13 months prior to the birth or adoption of your child, and
  • You must have worked for at least 330 hours in that 10 month period (just over one day a week), with no more than an eight week gap between two consecutive working days.

NOTE: You and/or your partner cannot receive Family Tax Benefit Part B during your Paid Parental Leave period.
